If you make high quality swords. (I might get one for Christmas !!!) Then why not make high quality shields? BUT instead of making the type of shields EVERY one has. Why don't you make a high quality inexpensive shield, i'm talking the kind people can actually buy, not the ones you searching for saying in you mind. " Don't have 780 dollars... Don't have 1,299 Dollars... Don't have 2,000 Dollars..."
Shields where people will say "HEY! I HAVE 200 DOLLARS xD " Also you should make them DIFFRENT! I mean... EVERY SINGLE WEBSITE sells a viking shield for 50 bucks, or a roman shield for 1,000 bucks. Or just a plain medieval shield for 500 bucks. But i'm thinking you guys make like a Teutonic shield, Bring back the good old crusades! Like Islamic shields, Ex. The Moors, Orange large round shield with a Smiling crescent. Well you guys have amazing minds and creativity with your swords, all I'm saying is that if you made shields, you profits will be going through the roof. (Or at least my money is going to hit rock bottom :P )
We are working on it. we search for the best composition : foam and core. We do not forget this idea, we will find something to work it out! But that’s a big challenge.
I would love some viking shields.

I agree with the 'small buckler'. That would be a wonderful idea! And please make them in realistic size and appearance.

I must agree with the "small buckler" - it would be GREAT!

Do you have any pictures of the types you are describing?
Hope it works out, a shield as tough as your swords would be great as far as investments goes.
A wide variety of shields, and maybe shields to correspond to some of the weapons would be awesomesauce.

I would love a Calimacil shield, at my side with my Calimacil sword
just start with something simple, a small Buckler. I recon it is harder to control the material flow in order to cast a shield-like form in comparison to the longitudinal foaming that you are used to with your swords. But believe me, we are thirsting for a decent shield that does not break at the hilt after a couple of uses, which is the destiny of most, if not all, current shields in the market. And since your amazing creations are so friggin durable any larper would save a bit of money in order to buy equipment that he/she knows will last for more than a year. I really hope you are able to make this wish come true. Maybe by alternating foam rigidity? A semi rigid base layer followed by a softer upper layer could make a great shield !
I think it would make Calimacil have even more variety than it already does to have shields. Different kinds. Affordable, different styles and the lavish ones as well. It would be nice to have reliable shield along with one of the many reliable Calimacil weapons.
Well if you do actually decide to make viking shields (I would love that by the way) Please try to make them size accurate as they should have about a 3ft radius, I realize that this might become a little heavy but if you make it with light materials and maybe have less foam around the "middle" parts of the shield and mainly focus on the boss and edges it could very well be wieldable.
The regulations in my country allows us to use real wooden shields as long as the edges are padded. So what I want to see is a shield-boss. Or rather, a couple of them... Making a centre held "Viking" shield would be a whole lot easier.
Shields are the way to go, but they must be affordable as well as durable. Coffin shields have enjoyed a great amount of popularity in Ravenholt. I like Maurice's idea, especially if you do custome designs. That way if you change teams, your shield breaks or your character perms you are not out the whole shield. You can also get different shield covers for different characters.
i really like the idea too. Especially some more inexpensive with the same idea as the squire series. As well as some more intricate more expensive ones. You could even make a few designs themed for each catagory Knights of Emerald, Amos dragon, etc.

I, too, would like to see Shields. I agree that a customization kit would be excellent, and will throw out one more idea - make the handles either in 2 varieties, or make both sets on a single shield, for Lefties. Forgotten Dreams has a shield with arm straps for both Left & Right handed folk, which is wonderful - http://www.dein-larp-shop.de/images/bg/schildgriffe/schildgriff_1.jpg
I would love the option to buy a shield. I was thinking that there would be two or three basic shapes and basic designs to pick from, and paint can be ordered with it for a do-it-yourself paint job. Also, if the base to put the softer foam on is a hassle to get in any way, why not try using foam? (After hearing someone complain about how the foam intheir sword was too hard, I thought if you master the art of foam desnsity, you can make a shield base that is durable and useful as a shield base). However, that's just a thought (I'm nowhere close to being an expert I just thought it was a strangeidea that might help).

I think a cool and inexpensive way to make latex shields would be to do a Shield Cover that would fit over an existing shield, like a latex mask for your shield. You could switch them out depending on your character or roll. If the shield breaks the latex design isn't ruined. You can easily customize your strapping, what the shield is made out of etc. The only constant would be the general shape of the shield and covers could be made in a variety of shield shapes and sizes.
